Senior Business Development Manager

Are you an experienced Sales Manager or Business Development Manager with Business to Business experience? Are you looking for an opportunity to bring your exceptional interpersonal skills to an advisory team environment?

If so, we'd be very interested to discuss the possibility of you joining our high calibre corporate finance team as a Senior Business Development Manager. This role represents a ground floor opportunity for an experienced sales/marketing/commercial professional, without direct Corporate Finance experience, as training will be provided to the successful candidate.  It would however be useful if you knew your way around a set of company accounts.  Working closely with our senior advisory team, the Senior Business Development Manager will take direct responsibility for business sale client projects.

Evolution Capital is a rapidly growing and market-leading Mergers & Acquisitions boutique, exclusively advising business owners and management teams in the ICT sector. We have an impressive track record of consistently unlocking ‘hidden value’ for our clients spanning three decades. We achieve outstanding transactional outcomes based on our approach of comprehensive analysis and preparing business propositions to achieve maximum value.

You will possess exceptional analytical skills, be highly committed to quality and excellence, be able to demonstrate initiative, whilst having a down to earth "sleeves rolled up, can-do" attitude.  Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are absolutely necessary, as the role will have both client facing and executive level exposure.  Everyday duties will include developing market awareness, identifying and qualifying new opportunities, co-ordinating prospective introductions and developing market research to support client engagement objectives.

The role provides an exceptional candidate the opportunity to work with a high performing team in a rapidly expanding firm, known for its deep industry expertise.  You will be self-motivated, proactive and enjoy a varied role, working closely with the senior team.  Our team moto is ‘no one of us is as smart as all of us’ and we demonstrate that by working in a highly collaborative, customer centric and quality improvement focused environment.

We have offices in London and on the south coast in Chichester. This role is based from our Chichester office, so candidates need to live within an easy daily commute from the office. Additionally, there may be some travel across the UK.

Role responsibilities:

  • Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients.
  • Research and analyse industry and company information.
  • Interrogate, manage and develop the company database.
  • Reaching out to suitable targets to arrange initial meetings and explore their appetite for sale.
  • To discuss shareholders’ strategic objectives and review recent company performance with business owners.
  • To qualify and secure appointments with prospective clients, potential buyers and sellers and administer client confidentiality.
  • To develop presentations and proposals for potential clients.
  • Assist in managing transition through business sale stages (with support from the Management and Transaction Teams), including being the day to day point of contact for clients.
  • To identify and approach potential buyers to meet current and future engagement requirements.
  • To provide regular reporting to our team and our clients to include PowerPoint and Excel formats.

The skills and experience we seek:

  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • A motivated, confident and creative operator with excellent business communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable in communicating on the phone and in person.
  • Well-rounded commercial awareness with a strong sense of integrity and business ethics.
  • Excellent analytical, comprehension and problem-solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A highly motivated team player with strong personal integrity, comfortable in contributing in a unique and highly interdependent environment and driven to exceed client expectations.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work on multiple assignments and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, with focus on Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read and understand company accounts.
  • Previous telecoms/IT industry experience would be desirable but not essential.
  • Must be located within easy daily commute to/from Chichester.
