Supporting and retaining our students throughout their academic undergraduate experience is paramount. The new Student On-Track Mentor role will work with our data to identify and interact with students who may need support to meet the University''s attendance standards. This will require a welcoming and professional approach and the ability to empathise with the variety of students they encounter.


The postholder will communicate with our students in a variety of ways to help identify any causes or problems and assist them with strategies to improve their attendance. You will meet with them on a one to one basis across both our campuses in Chichester and Bognor Regis. Often this may involve referring students where appropriate, to other members of the Student Support and Wellbeing team, academic departments, other professional services or external agencies.


It''s essential you are able to develop and maintain close and effective links with key staff across the University and outside organisations combining the key skills of data analysis with excellent people skills. With a range of excellent interpersonal skills, you''ll need to be well organised, proactive with the ability to work alone or as part of the larger team and have the ability to work with and understand data. You will be self-motivated, empathic to the concerns of students and understand the importance of integrity and confidentiality.


This role is working 22.5 hours per week, 40 weeks per year. there is some flexibility on days and working hours.


This position requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check, which will be undertaken by the University on appointment.
