Incinerator Manager – Weybridge - £40 - £45k
Job purpose
My Client is looking for a experienced Incinerator Manager To manage a clinical waste incinerator, animal by-products cremator and associated plant;
The facility is operated under an Environmental Permit issued by the Environment Agency. The Manager is responsible for ensuring the site is managed in accordance with The Permit and all other relevant legislation and internal procedures.
Responsibilities
• Manage and implementation the company's health, safety and environmental management policies
• Maintain a safe working environment for all.
• Ensuring all conditions in the Environmental Permit are complied with.
• Develop and implement maintenance plans to deliver preventative, breakdown and scheduled maintenance.
• Coordinating and planning the daily maintenance activities with the Maintenance Engineers
• Develop and manage the operational and maintenance budgets
• Management of operational and maintenance contracts
• Recommend plant and/or operational improvements.
• Provide leadership and direction to the operation team, including managing individual and team performance
• The Manager will be expected to motivate, train and develop their team as well as recruit new members as and when required.
• Be a key member of the Management Team.
• Understand the Contract with the client
• Previous responsibility in managing policies and systems such as H&S, QA, environmental and corporate while complying with current and appropriate legislation and standards
• Collation of service data, detailed reporting and performance analysis
• Proven track record in successful people management
• The Manager is responsible for a team of people, and external service providers, focusing on sustainability for all forms of decision making. Service delivery will include achieving KPI targets, auditing and managing changes to services, to ensure high standards of service delivery.
Qualifications, knowledge, skills & experience
• Engineering or environmental degree
• Current level 4 COTC in incineration and/or hazardous waste.
• 5 years experience in the waste management sector, with experience in clinical waste and animal by-products.
• At least 2 years experience of managing a modern EU legislated incineration plant.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with an environmental permit.
• Knowledge of CEMs
• Knowledge of waste management processes
• Experience in negotiating with contractors and suppliers
• Good written and personal communication skills are essential
• Up to date knowledge of the relevant legislation and guidance.
• Understanding of district heating systems.
• In-depth understanding of health and safety and risk within an industrial environment.
