The Adoption Team is recruiting for a full time role within our service. This position is within Adoption Team 1 which is responsible for the recruitment and training of new adoptive families. The role involves: 

-Undertaking partner adoption assessments and Stage 2 adoption assessments

-Promoting adoption recruitment within the West Sussex County area

-Facilitating information events -Supporting families within Stage 1 of the adoption process

-Providing training for prospective adoptive families

You will need good communication skills and a comprehensive knowledge of attachment theory and the impact of trauma on children. You must also have experience of children's social care and preferably experience of adoption work e.g. PAR assessment, support and inter agency working and comprehensive knowledge of the Adoption & Children Act 2002.

The Adoption Team is an experienced, supportive and creative team, working in partnership with children’s services colleagues and prospective adopters to secure the best possible outcomes for children with adoption care plans. The Adoption Service covers the whole of West Sussex with some out of county travel. The main office base is Horsham.

Our practice framework is based on Signs of Safety underpinned by knowledge of attachment theory and the impact of developmental trauma on children and families – all staff receive extensive training and support to implement these approaches. As a social worker you will also have access to Research in Practice and Community Care Inform and are guaranteed a minimum of 5 days per year CPD, including accredited training leading to Diploma and Masters qualifications.

This is a full time post, with some evening work required.
